Trust, Communication, and Quality Work
Trust and communication are the foundation of any successful relationship — whether personal, professional, or business. Yet, the website industry remains largely unregulated, making it difficult for people to find reliable and knowledgeable developers.
For nearly two decades, my business has been built exclusively on referrals. My clients trust me to deliver high-quality, accessible, and secure websites, and they frequently recommend my services to others. If you need references, I’m happy to provide them. I also prioritize responsiveness — all emails are answered the same day, if not immediately.
A Thoughtful Approach to Web Development
A website isn’t just a digital brochure — it’s an essential tool for communication, engagement, and business growth. That’s why I take a strategy-first approach to development, ensuring every project is tailored to the needs of the client and their audience.
- Custom-built WordPress solutions instead of relying on bloated, off-the-shelf themes
- Semantic and maintainable code that prioritizes longevity
- Fast, accessible websites that perform well for all users, including those using assistive technologies
- True accessibility, coded into your website from the ground up. No band-aid ‘quick fix‘ overlays.
- Design decisions backed by usability best practices rather than just aesthetics
- Minimal reliance on third-party plugins to reduce security risks and improve performance
I also recognize that a website is never truly “finished” — it evolves alongside a business or organization. My goal is to build sustainable websites that are easy to update and maintain without constant developer intervention.
Why I Build Websites This Way
Over the years, I’ve seen countless businesses struggle with poorly built websites — sites that are difficult to update, don’t work properly on mobile, or exclude large portions of their audience due to accessibility barriers. I’ve also seen businesses get locked into expensive, unnecessary contracts or rely on developers who disappear when things break.
I work differently. My goal is to create future-proof, user-friendly websites that empower clients rather than making them dependent. That means:
- Clear documentation and training so you can manage your site with confidence
- No unnecessary subscriptions or hidden costs — you own your site and its data
- Ongoing support when you need it, without locking you into long-term contracts
Whether you’re a small business, nonprofit, or creative professional, I provide expert web design and development to help you establish a strong online presence. Based in North Vancouver, I create custom WordPress websites that are fast, accessible, and easy to manage. Whether you need a complete website redesign, a fully custom-built WordPress site, or expert web development, I can help.
Biography
I’m Jen Gfeller, a Vancouver-based web developer specializing in custom WordPress development. I graduated from the New Media Design and Web Development program at BCIT and have been building websites since 2007.
Before transitioning into web development, I spent 10 years as a live sound engineer. My background in sound reinforced my attention to detail and problem-solving skills — both of which are essential in development. As client demand for custom, scalable WordPress solutions grew, I focused my expertise on building secure, accessible, and high-performance websites tailored to individual needs.
My business has been built on long-term client relationships, referrals, and repeat business — a reflection of my commitment to quality work and ongoing support. I take pride in delivering well-structured, future-proof websites that empower clients rather than making them dependent on a developer. I’m fortunate to work with several charitable and nonprofit organizations that provide essential services to local communities. Knowing that my work contributes to their impact makes it even more rewarding
Outside of work, I’m passionate about wildlife conservation, and I spend my free time birding, photography, and reading.
